The Danish call it blød møblering, literally ‘soft furnishing’: the skilled application of padding, upholstery fabric and piping to add comfort but also texture, colour and heightened acoustic difference to a piece of furniture.
‘We have worked with a tone-in-tone approach for this project, creating a calm and inviting expression for a modern take on a furniture icon’ The chair’s new bespoke coverings come in subtle, dusty tones in gouache-like textures; a dash of yellow, hint of green, touch of pink, flash of red. To the rear of the chair, the wooden back remains, finished in A Sense Of Colour, the new palette of 16 compatible colours and seven new bases launched by Fritz Hansen last year.
A visible ribbon of wood, like a curving picture frame, complements the fabric on the chair’s seat and back, while colours in the special palette complement one another and the ‘Series 7’s design with warmth and harmony in endless combinations. Deep Clay and Light Beige, for instance, can be used as neutrals to form connections, making calm and delicate colour families.
Made-to-order and customised solutions are also available for special projects. To create your own fully customisable interiors and let your unique sense of style shine through, configure your favourite Fritz Hansen model by choosing everything from bespoke upholstery and shell colours to base finishes, with form, function, texture and colour coming together in comfort. §
