I WROTE yesterday about a Labour manifesto pledge promising the public free money. It was meant to be a joke but – jaw on the floor time - today it officially became Labour Party policy.

Here's what Jeremy Corbyn said at Lancaster University, at about 11am today: “So here it is: a Labour government will make broadband free for everybody.” You know that 40 quid a month you're shelling out to Virgin, or BT, or EE? Forget it, Jeremy is going to pick up the tab! Happy days! Except of course it's not. Economics 101 – the consumer, that's you and me, always pays.

What about this?

People who are well off and have money paying so that those less well off will have more opportunity to rise and make better lives for themselves? How fucking dare they.
