Shame the BBC had to mention his indiscretions along with his passing shame on you

Frank was a great man and broadcaster and a true human being. No one is perfect and he is remembered as a good man Bless him his wife and family

Those were the days when presenters weren't encouraged to keep spouting 'ers & ums' while live transmissions are in progress. But I suppose that it's now thought to be 'colloquial', since senior Ministers in Parliament can't seem able to speak without doing it. The American way?

Many Condolences to his family - a friend of my parents- I remember him from being quite small and if I remember rightly he had a bubble car - a great presenter and a very nice man.

All those decades at BBC and not a word about Jimmy Savile...

He was good..

I remember him

RIP Frank and thanks for the magical memories whilst growing up....

aslinndubh May He Rest In Peace

Your coverage feels very unkind , I don’t remember the “scandal” you use in all your headlines. Today he would have been sacked but been reemployed almost straight away.

Frank Bough deserved a better tribute than the hatches job on BBC News last night, show some respect and dignity !!!

BBC treat their presenters very differently from mps. They would not have remembered a tory cocain and brothel using politician in this way. Double standards or what. Given time wouldn't be surprised if they try and remember the good Jimmy Saville did.

A sordid past? There is nothing wrong with taking cocaine and sleeping with prostitutes. It's not everyone's cup of tea, nor mine. But I guarantee a good number of your current and past employees have done exactly the same.

Media lovies... please get over it. He presented some tv, that's it. Obviously nothing else going on in the country, the US or the World?

RIP Frank

Grew up watching Grandstand Frank Bough was a great presenter - sad RIP

Thanks for the memories Frank 🍷

I will always remember him for his cocaine and bondage sessions with prostitutes 😥

RIP legend

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fond memories of Grandstand, and loved the theme-tune.

He was partial to the odd brass and the hurdy gurdy.. But it was the sussies wearing that did it for me.. Nowadays it would be considered normal weekend frolics

RIP Frank

Sad.. a past familiar face on TV . RIP

Sadly, in the modern world the BBC finds itself having to emphasise his problems. More virtue signalling. For those of us who grew up watching Grandstand he was the best. Grandstanding is now the biggest problem on social media. Very sad

😥

RIP he was apart of our living rooms in 70/80s. Our thoughts are with his family

RIP Frank 😢

I thought he died years ago. Another old favourite bites the dust, having first snorted it.

Good. Best rid of a man who....................young girls controlled by pimps

His voice was the welcome sound of Saturday afternoons. RIP.

I still miss Saturdays with Grandstand and World of Sport.

my sincere heartfelt condolences to the Gentleman's family and friends.

RIP Frank.... a major part of my life growing up.

RIP Frank. 😔

R.I.P. Frank.

You should be ashamed of the way you reported this on MOTD. ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Hang your heads in shame. May Frank RIP. Sad news.

Part of my childhood. Seemed a genuinely decent man who loved sport. RIP Frank.

☹💔

So sad about this. Love to his family xxx

Now, compare with Lineker, No comparison, Lineker wouldn’t be allowed to lick his shoes, a great, great, presenter.....NOT Lineker.GaryLineker

I thought he died years ago. 🤔

RIP, Frank Bough. So much a part of my TV watching life.

johnnycantor_ Randomly was thinking about him today... R.I.P.

Why piss on his grave on the news tonight? Complete failure of judgement

Aw Frank Bough.

When did the BBC turn into The S*n 😔

Thanks for entertaining me every Saturday for years.

Horrendously reported on the 10 o’clock news, absolutely no respect given, no surprise Shambles

Grew up watching this man on Granstand

This was a real journalist, who could present. RIP

Always liked Frank Part of my childhood . I know he had some issues later in life but i like to remember him as a excellent sports host ....

R.I.P indeed. Wonderful human being. Though, is this not the same Frank Bough which you sacked for going to sex Parties, while still employing Sir James Vincent Savile OBE, while he was....?

'Frank Bough' I did it my way

God bless Frank 🙏

Is this how the bbc remember one of their greatest and much loved and much missed presenter... Disgusting obituary on the BBC news just now..

RIP frank nice guy

Bless.

Everyone under 35 going “Who? He was sacked for doing what?!?! He looks like your regular physics teacher!” ripfrank

RIP Frank .Forever part of my childhood,Grandstand was REQUIRED viewing in our house!

Disappointing obituary by the BBC. I wouldn’t want to be one of their ex employees.

RIP

Was he a victim of the time ? - Comment ?

Disgusting coverage by the BBC news tonight on the day of a great broadcasters passing.. had to dig up the dirt. The BBC could not let him be remembered with dignity.. shame on you.. I feel sorry for Frank’s family. BBC, hang your heads in shame... again!! frankbough RIP

Sounds like typical BBC material.

Htf can you do a tribute and then state “but he had a sordid past” at the end? Disgrace

1mancity One of the good guys of the bbc rip frank

87 (eighty seven)

I remember Frank Bough, a good presenter, the face of Grandstand, sadly a few indiscretions did for him. RIP Frank.

These days he'd have gotten his own TV show when they found out about the drugs and prostitutes.

A great presenter, but will mostly be remembered for vice girls and cocaine... I hope when I die I can be remembered the same way 😂😂😂

Absolutely disgusted with how the biased broadcasting company reported on the passing of Frank Bough. It was crass distasteful and disrepecful to his grieving family! And you expect people to pay a tv licence for that verbal diarrhea! Shame on you! Why even bother reporting it!!

God riddance as far as I'm concerned.

Bbc News, you guys have just assassinated the life of Frank Bough.. ‘what have you done today to make you feel proud?’ Many congratulations BBCBreaking

Grandstand? How about Nationwide and all the rest? The guy was the very face of the BBC for years and the way they dumped him was appalling. I hope his life subsequently recovered from being blacklisted at the Beeb.

He was from an era where bbc personnel were respected.

One of the voices of my childhood, as I was so sport mad as my mum would say.

Combover

Honestly thought he was already away RIPFrankBough

Obituary is pretty classless.

Brilliant host of Grandstand and who could ever forget him in the famous Morecombe and Wise South Pacific dancing sketch with all the other big presenters of the day RIP legend

Drugs and prostitutes - RIP Frank ya drug crazed sex monger. You will be forever part of my childhood.

Grandstand, Nationwide, Holiday, Breakfast Time. Frank Bough was all over my 70s/80s childhood. Sadly missed. 😢

Consummate.

Be kind now angle_of__death

His indiscretions are completely acceptable now!

RIPFrankBough

Grew up watching Frank, absolute consumate professional, so passionate about sport. True legend

He was a legend, people forget that at the time he presented Grandstand BBC had most of the Sports rights and the show ran for close to six hours .

My mum was friends with his wife Nesta & their 2 boys were at cubs where my mum was Akela... Nice lady, nice boys... Sad his career was dogged by later scandals.

RIP Frank Bough

You couldn’t meet a nicer bloke than God, with the possible exception of Frank Bough. Much nicer than Paul Daniels, but several times as big, God doesn’t have a chat show, and he doesn’t wear a wig.

Soundtrack to my youth RIP Frank

Watching him on Grandstand was a regular Saturday afternoon tradition. 👏 RIP Frank Bough.

Coolest presenter on television 😎 and loved his BreakfastJumpers

RIP Frank. 💔

Frank was an institution for a whole generation when it came to Saturday Afternoon sport on the TV

Sad! Was a wonderful presenter! RIP.

RIP FRANK BOUGH

Vivihen By today’s standards his misdemeanours were minor. Paid a big price for it. Always remember him reading the videoprint as a kid.

Big part of childhood TV for me. RIP

Sad news

Fond memories

Obituary: Frank Bough

Sadly I thought he was already.

That's sad. The Voice Of Grandstand, when sport used to have proper presenters...

Was he an associate of Saville?

The face of Saturday afternoons in the 70's. Another name gone from my childhood. RIP

Oh no RoyKellySport

Grandstand on Saturday afternoon, happy days. RIP Frank and thank you.

RIP Frank. Good memories from the 70’s and 80’s.

He was a great presenter

Always remember this grandstand music on a Saturday as a kid then i knew it was time for The Pink Panther Show 😂😂👍🏻

RIP

Thought he died years ago.

😔

No.. Great presenter... My childhood gets further away... RIP

Legend Legend Legend

A great presenter, before the BBC became sht.

RIP Frank 🕯️

An absolutely outstanding broadcaster. A truly great presenter in both news and sport.

In 1977 Bough was on the Morecambe and Wise Xmas special performing a song & dance routine in a sailor's outfit. The programme's 21.3 million viewers is a British record. In 1988 Bough was caught up in a sex & drugs scandal involving cocaine and sex parties!

Very likeable, so professional.

philipnolan1 💚

They don't make 'em like they used to...

CubaMac24 Oh no. Practically grew up watching him on t.v.

He makes the present bunch look like a right bunch of shabby amateurs I include game show hosts & most of BBC’s five live daytime presenters

Aww 🥰 lovely guy & great presenter RIP 🙏 🌹

Went round France in 1980, using his book recommending hotels and restaurants. Had a great time. Thanks, Frank. RIP

Death comes like a thief in the night.

R.I.P Frank ✨🕉️☸️

I never forgave him for publicly accusing the editor of my favourite comic, Action!, of corrupting children's morals. My mum confiscated my entire run of the series and the comic was neutered by the publishers shortly after.

Sad news. 😔

Hi Frank Bough a Legend RIP

FrankBoughRIP A bit of my childhood just died too.

What a legend... He WAS Grandstand. Saturday afternoons, the teleprinter stuttering over the football results.. I can hear his voice as if it were yesterday ...RIP dear man ⚽️🏈🎾🏏

I hope he wasn’t alone. RIP

RIP. Presenting Legend.

Strange when you think that the BBC sacked Frank Bough for using prostitutes at the same that they kept nonces like Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall and Rolf Harris on the payroll.

Total legend. They don’t make (or employ) people like that any more.

How many people have the grandstand theme going through their head whilst reading this?

through my childhood . . . . Grandstand . . . every Saturday afternoon 🙏

tm014d1009 RIP Frank Bough 💙

Un Béluga dauphin rapporte un iPhone tombé dans l'eau : دولفين بيلوجا يعيد ايفون سقط في الماء

Sacked because of Cocain and prostitutes? Can we sack Boris Johnson?

Mr Granstand

RIP Frank from a Glasgow Rangers fan.

Utter legend when I was a youngster...RIP Frank.

Oh how sad. Grandstand was a big part of my childhood. We watched every week. Everyone had to sit in silence as the football scores came in on the teleprinter. RIP Frank.

So sad, he really was one of the voices of Saturday sport whilst I was growing up RIP

born in Fenton stokeontrent

RIP Frank.

Snorting beak with prostitutes dressed in womens underwear. RIP BBC legend

Gutted

RIP Frank! Dickie Davies was world of sport and Frank Bough was world of snort!

RIP . .

One of the very best and iconic presenters.

Sad end to one of the great voices of my youth,Saturday afternoons will never be the same,in this so called modern world ! R.I.P

Taken too soon.

Aww RIP Frank Bough. A real fixture from my younger days. 💔

That's really sad. Grew up watching him. RIP Frank.

Most welcome in the broadcast

It just goes to show that Cocaine seriously damages your health!

Frank Bough was a brilliant presenter. RIP and condolences to his family.

Great TV. Been using his name for decades on leaving a venue

RIP Frank Bough. One of the very best when the beeb actually had decent sport on it to watch.

Another piece of my childhood slowly ebbing away. That iconic voice of Grandstand every Saturday. Rest well Frank. X

Every dealer and pimp weeps across the home counties.

Brought rocknroll to mid afternoon sports presentation.

He was terrific on grandstand and sports review of the year. He was brilliant-particularly when grandstand was live from Cardiff arms park.

RIP Frank

Great presenter of the Saturday afternoon viewing of my youth... RIP Frank

I remember him from breakfast time. The BBC’s answer to TV-AM

Yes, poor Frank. Ousted by the BBC for minor discretions, values they now hold as a job requirement.

Top man. The nation's uncle. Liked a bit of beak when it was fashionable. And paid the price. Now we have Lineker.

Used to love watching Frank front Grandstand every Saturday & was saddened by his demise after the NOTW exposed his private life RIP Frank Bough

Rip

Gotta do everything we can to keep Dickie Davies alive!

Oxford legend had it that his undergraduate career concluded with the last 4th class degree ever awarded....

RIP

A lot of my sporting memories as a kid were introduced by this man. Rest in peace Frank
