'Fracking, she said, had the potential to... provide a cleaner alternative to coal and biomass'. If we continue to invest in fracking we'll never meet our environmental targets. It's not good enough to just be 'cleaner' - it has to be clean.

Current government rules mean fracking must be suspended every time a 0.5 magnitude tremor is detected.But Natascha Engel said 'this cautious approach to earth tremors had created a de facto ban on fracking.' (And on polluting the water table?)

Engel: 'the casing of a shale pipe through the water table has to be three steel tubes, each injected with a layer of cement. The chance of any contamination of the water table from shale extraction in this country is almost impossible.' Unless there is an earthquake?

No good can come of fracking. I'm not an expert but I'm sure Ms Engel is equally qualified to make an opinion on it. Are we not moving towards loving our environment before we f**k it up permanently? Natasha here seems to be advocating money over nature.
