A message on Conservative MP Julia Lopez’s Twitter account read: “Team Lopez: just leaving Westminster office for the night and see a fox climbing escalator into Portcullis House!Another social media user shared a picture of the fugitive fox eyeing a member of the authorities with suspicion.
The Sun’s Westminster correspondent tweeted: ‘There is a fox loose in parliament! Cops are trying to shoo it out but it’s on the upper floor of PCH [Portcullis House] now.’ As efforts to remove it failed, she added: ‘The fox has now scarpered up to the third floor. Police with big gloves have gone in pursuit.’She then tweeted a video of the animal being removed from the building in a blue box and released into the street.
Some responding complained that the fox should have been taken somewhere else, with one saying: ‘Richmond Park might have been a better place to let him out. He’ll probably get run over.’
