One vital element omitted as a key element to the film's success and as to why modern superhero films will not live in the memory as long is Superman himself, a character who, like Batman, effortlessly pervades into the mainstream of public consciousness

I was 8 when this came out and watched it at an Army cinema in Celle, Germany. I jumped off the curb believing I could fly such was its effect.

I love this film to this day. Sadly Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder no longer with us.
