Questions remain unanswered after Nadhim Zahawi admitted to paying a settlement to HMRC following a tax error, with Labour and a former Tory leader urging him to come clean.

"Nadhim has issued a statement where he has admitted that he made a careless error, this is now resolved."However, senior backbencher and former Tory leader Sir Iain took a different view."The sooner you can get the facts out the better, rather than have them coming out in phases," he told the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show.He added:"I don't believe he is deceitful in any way."by Mr Johnson last summer.

In his statement last night, Mr Zahawi said his father took founder shares in YouGov and that HMRC later"disagreed about the exact allocation", leading him to"settle the matter and pay what they said was due". Asked whether Mr Zahawi will survive in his role until Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Mr Cleverly said:"What else am I going to say other than yes, because he's a very, very effective minister."Pat McFadden said:"It's difficult for Mr Zahawi because the problem with this is what we're being asked to believe.

can we assume that when IDS phones the PM he just gets the engaged signal and this is what this is really all about.

I will give it 6 to 1 if he comes clean with his total TAX affairs 🤓

robpowellnews He should go immediately

robpowellnews 'error' laughable. They made this guy chancellor of the Exchequer & he has the gall to say he forgot to pay millions in tax? Why did his lawyers spend years slapping people down who brought up his tax arrangements if this was an 'error' 🤔 Not fit to be an MP.

robpowellnews Tax error? Seems Sky is also compromised and infested like the BBC 🙄

robpowellnews Are we going to discuss threats made to the Journalist who revealed this corruption? This Government is a Total Disgraceful and Corrupt. We need an election now and a total reform so no political parties can serve in the interest of their Donor's.

As he's no fan of Sunak one has to suspect that IDS knows releasing full details would be like setting off a grenade.

robpowellnews “Tax error” this isn’t a builder doing his own accounts at the kitchen table ! He has the top accountants in the country submitting his returns. Any “errors” were intentional

robpowellnews 'Error' 🤣🤣🤣🤣

robpowellnews Well if this doesn't stink off conflict off ministers interest?😏💥

robpowellnews Now investigate Sadiq ? For fixing ulez figures. ?!?

robpowellnews It’s time for all these charlatans & shysters be held criminally & politically to account for all their lies & misinformation it’s about 👇

🤣 it’s so muddy, full of 💩 there’s no way he can ever clean it! Not a bit! 😂

he needs to tell zahawi to go...

The sooner that he does & (if merited) resigns, the better it will be for Sunak & the Conservative party. Otherwise, will only be benefiting Labour.

Reasonable request

Time the police were brought in for Zahawi.
