A former nurse has described the A&E department at Lincoln County Hospital as “a very dangerous place” with “patients on the floor, holding their heads in their hands” after a recent frustrating experience.she was a nurse in Lincolnshire for over 40 years from 1975, including at Lincoln County Hospital, and is “ashamed” to have ever worked there, as “it is so terrible”.
She said she was then put in a room on her own with nothing to drink and “luckily had water with me”, but felt ignored and was “left with numerous vomit bowls”. She also claims she was not assessed by a doctor, did not have IV fluids and was not given a sip of water, and that she became more and more dehydrated, something she believes the CT scan showed.
The patient was then settled at the side of the bed, but didn’t want to get into it as she finds it difficult to get comfortable lying down due to her hip.
Last time I went was about 5 years ago with my mum after she had a stroke we were taken to a and w and she didnt see any doctor let alone a stroke specialist for over an hour. So much for FAST. I also heard behind the curtain some new male nurse moaning about his first day.
The nurses continually called her 'Mrs poo-poo' to her face and demanded to know why she was taking laxatives when she was so loose. She didn't dare complain in case they got even worse. Disgusting!!
My wife was admitted to Lincoln A&E in May this year. She had had a stent fitted in her bowel due to cancer. As a result she had to take laxatives to keep ' everything moving'. She then developed an infection that required antibiotics. When admitted she was incontinent.
tractorman07 I walked away as had serious concerns re patient safety. I was right
