He was a titan and inspired me to vote in my first GE at 18 (92), and that engagement has lead me to vote in every election since. Always respected and admired him. Sad news.
Whilst I'm not a liberal democrat I think it is the right thing to do to offer condolences and sympathies to his surviving family. He was a decent man who served his country well and his legacy will be long remembered.
