Nottingham Forest's chairman says talks with the city council on extending the club's City Ground lease have now "gone backwards" and warned that all redevelopment plans are on hold. Tom Cartledge has described Nottingham City Council as a "blocker" to Forest achieving their ambitions.
Should Nottingham City Council have managed its finances better over the last 10 years? Let us know here "The city council is a blocker at the moment to that and there has been no change in the position since we spoke about it three weeks ago. I think there is still a perception in their mind that there is more rent that should be paid on this site if we bring alternative uses onto the site and they're reflecting that in their heads of terms.
The wider redevelopment plans at the City Ground also included new hospitality boxes and were dependent on talks with the Nottingham Britannia Rowing Club about demolishing its boathouse. Mr Cartledge was speaking at an event held at the City Ground on Friday in which Forest announced a new initiative to boost access to sport across Nottinghamshire. The event was attended by figures including Nottinghamshire County Council's leader, Ben Bradley.
