Forest have not responded to City Ground offer made months ago

Nottingham Forest have not yet responded to an offer made by Nottingham City Council in March regarding the future of the City Ground . The club is in a dispute with the Labour-led authority over the rent it pays for leasing the City Ground , with the council owning the land on which it sits.

The council is reportedly seeking to increase yearly rent from £250,000 to "north of a million", though the option of buying the ground outright for £10 million is also on the table. Following months of public statements by Forest about the issue, including the possibility of them relocating to land at Toton, Nottingham City Council has recently been going public with its side of the story.

The new leader of the council, Neghat Khan, says she wants a face-to-face meeting with owner Evangelos Marinakis and chairman Tom Cartledge to "thrash out" the issue. But Councillor Khan has now also revealed that Forest are yet to respond to the council's latest offer, despite them having made it in March.Speaking during a meeting on Monday , Councillor Khan said: "The council has been actively negotiating with Nottingham Forest.

"It is disappointing that the club has not responded to the options presented to them and to hear that Forest might be looking to relocate." Councillor Khan also says: "The mist needs to keep rolling in off the Trent, not the M1", referring to Forest's possible Toton move. Nottingham Forest declined to comment on the claim that it was yet to respond to Nottingham City Council's latest offer. The club have played at the City Ground since 1898, but a move to Toton would see them based on land once earmarked for HS2.
