Forest bringing in former Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley

’s managing director, has been asked to help Forest with their business arrangements, in a move that demonstrates how last season’s Championship play-off final winners recognise they are short of Premier League knowhow behind the scenes.

Charnley was often an unpopular figure with Newcastle’s supporters because of the way the club was run on his watch. Nine months on, Charnley’s link-up with Forest will allow the club to tap into his experience and contacts. It will surprise a few people, however, bearing in mind his unusual history with Nicholas Randall, the club’s chairman.
