Smartphone technology doesn’t have to be invasive to track the pandemic

On the weekend of March 20-21 news organisations in the US and elsewhere were reporting that beaches in Florida were thronged with holidaymakers, none of whom seemed to be observing any kind of social distancing. “If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying,” one reveller told a reporter in Miami, conveying the general atmosphere.

There are two ways authorities get enough people to use these tracking apps. First is to force them to do it - which in western countries might be a bit of work. And the other one is really honoring privacy of users - which means the third option in this article. privacy

This is why I stopped using these tracking devices. Get rid of them after this period, the new era must be about people power and Government needs to serve the 99% and not rule on behalf of the 1%.

They would say that wouldn't they.
