A football club says they are devastated that their football pitch is ‘ruined’ after a circus visit. Members of Junior Hoops have been left devastated after their only venue for their games was ‘damaged’ following Circus Funtasia’s visit to the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden last week.
“It makes no logical sense to use grounds that people use and need. They have put money above thousands of children. I think the circus is a fantastic idea and I love circuses, but it shouldn’t be to the detriment of others. Steve says there are many other places the circus could have been held at, including a piece of unused land at Marl Pits in Rawtenstall where the circus was based two years ago. Steve says the top three pitches on the grounds have been affected and although they have the bottom pitch to use, the club have experienced a great deal of problems with this pitch.
“I know the circus has come when the season has come to an end but I have lost count of the amount of games we have had to call off because the pitches were not playable.”
