He had been struck off by Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service

A family has been left shocked after discovering a banned foot doctor had been performing treatment on them despite being struck off for 'inappropriate treatment'.

Furthermore, the chiropodist did not obtain consent from the patient to conduct the nail removal, or provide a sufficient explanation of their treatment options or the risks and benefits of it. As a reaction to these, it was decided that Dr Sagar would be struck-off, stating: "By reason of that misconduct and/or lack of competence, your fitness to practise is impaired."

Talking about the appointments his wife's been having, the resident said: "She's been having regular appointments up until last month, sort of uninterrupted really. My son went as well, my son had an ingrown toenail treated, I think it was sometime last year. "I walked past on Saturday and the brass plate has gone from the wall, but the sign is still there. He lived above the surgery, which was obviously all locked up, but the sign is still there."

A spokesperson from the Health and Care Professions Council , which oversees the HCPTS, explained the public can report instances such as Mr Sagar's to the body through the service's protection of title process. Under this process, the title of chiropodist and podiatrist are protected and you cannot describe yourself as one if you have been struck off.
