Caught on camera -a lorry drives along a country lane and as it goes a man standing in the back throwing large bags out as it moves onto the grass verge and into the hedgerow. The footage was posted by the Warwickshire Rural Crime Team and was taken in Darlingcote Road near Shipston on Stour.
A motorist captured the footage and immediately informed the police. The vehicle was found in nearby Darlingcote and seized - and now is set to be crushed. The team said: “Looks like we’ve got a couple of not-so-smart fly tippers on our hands! Thanks to an eagle-eyed member of the public, we received the below footage taken along the Darlinscote Road near Shipston on Stour. Its fair to say its pretty damning evidence of blatant fly-tipping. Let’s just say, they don’t seem too camera shy!
“Using the footage the team quickly identified the vehicle and arranged to visit the location we suspected it might have come from. Officers located the unattended vehicle near Darlingcote shortly after. Using Police powers of entry and seizure under the Enviromental Protection Act 1990 we recovered the vehicle.
“The registered keeper of the vehicle will be contacted in due course to disclose who the driver was at the time of the offences . The vehicle is also at risk of being crushed if the keeper doesn’t respond. Remember, folks, your watchful eyes are our secret weapon against environmental wrongdoing. Keep those eyes peeled and report anything suspicious. Together, we’ll keep Warwickshire clean and green.
