Residents in Fleetwood are still complaining of a foul stench in the town - despite continuous promises the misery would end.
Initially, the Environment Agency gave Transwaste a deadline to end the stink by May 15, but since this was surpassed the operators were found to be in breach of permit. On April 9, Transwaste were served an enforcement notice stating the site needed to go back into compliance with it permit - but this was only the first.
However, eagle-eyed locals and administrators of the Facebook page, 'Action against Jameson Road, Fleetwood Landfill site gas smell' which has amassed over 2,600 followers, spotted an issue. Jess Brown noted the capping had been torn from the cell, meaning the smell was still very much apparent for the town's inhabitants.
