Crackdown on 'wild camping' in car parks at beauty spots

A crack down on illegal camping has been launched following an increase in people staying in car parks overnight.

Pembrokeshire council is staging early morning patrols and issuing fines of up to £70 to tackle the rise in so-called"wild camping". About 20 penalty notices were issued to people caught parking illegally last weekend, the council said.Mark Davies, a civil enforcement officer, begins his patrol at 05:00 BST and said a growing number of penalty notices were being issued, especially at weekends.

"You can see people have been having a couple of drinks, not bagging the rubbish and taking it home, just leaving it for the local authority to clear up," he said."If they follow the rules then everyone can enjoy it. Some people spoil it for a lot of others."Officers are also reporting a number of camper vans and other vehicles parked on verges or in lay-bys - which can cause access problems for emergency services and put lives at risk.

They are also leading to problems such as littering and people using parts of the national park as a"public toilet".

Only in Britain can you be fined for camping

What is wild camping?

What about Irish Travellers. Do they get fined?

Bit extreme if you can’t park in a layby to make a coffee

I've been to France and there was ( I don't know if there are now) special places where campervans could park for free! Some had facilities like water and electricity but others didn't. The French did that to encourage people to visit!

It’s called ‘dogging’! 👊🏼

Not much wild about a car park.

Last time I went wild camping was in a Forrest in Norway. Sleeping in a camper van in a car park is not wild camping 😂😂😂

Didn't this used to be called dogging once?

Councils are taking the piss a bit. Anything to get more money from people. Like they don't get enough already from rip-off tax amounts. F**kers.

A fascist state!

God forbid the common folk ever have a smile on their face without a £100+ price tag.

Don’t fine them, clamp them or take the wheels away

I would put a hose on them ,wtf is that all about wild fucking camping ,stuck up pricks🖕

Not everyone in a motorhome are visitors. We have one and use it for local days out. Ideal when you have children or anyone else who need toilet stops urgently. Please don't tar everyone with the same brush.

You can't even fart without being fined now .

Tackling the serious issues at our time of crisis

Is it really ‘wild’ when it’s in a car park?

Pfff. Crackdown even.

Fly camping?

I can understand why you can't just camp in the wild. But it would be nice. Quite a few campsites in northen England was pretty much that. But legal.

you mean sleeping in cars, its not camping.

You can wild camp on Dartmoor and many places in Scotland! Laws were introduced in most of England in the 50s to make it illegal. Councils clearly see it as a cash cow issuing fines through private sector cowboys. Camp sites can be few and far between and too pricey!

What about the immigrants camping in Hyde Park? 🤔

could you not just identity as a traveller to get around this 😂

COME HAVE A GOOD LAUGH WITH ME. Watch me attempt to tell a storytime in 'BRITISH ACCENT'. It's pure comedy. Please leave a thumbs up and also subscribe when you're through, thanks. Here's THE LINK ↓

Family of four etc in a motor home in a convenient spot for £70 a night you can see why they risk it.

Turning the screw then f*ckers?

Come catch me up a mountain then 😂😂😂

Wild=Illegal

Cos we aren't allowed fun 😂
