Presidents, prime ministers and chancellors across Europe will pack their bags later this week in preparation for a long weekend in Brussels. They won’t, however, be taking in the baroque majesty of the Grand Place or savouring the local culinary treats. Instead, they will be preparing for that most infamous of events, a “four shirter”, to use the clothes-packing gauge adopted by male diplomats to measure the length and horror of EU leaders’ summits in the Belgian capital.
twist1961 Se battre comme des coqs pour former un gouvernement, alors que M. MICHEL est parti à l'Europe, laissant un trou béant de 12 milliards d'€ dans les caisses de la Belgique 👍💶😁😊😄🔌🔌❗
I think we should be more worried about our own Brexit black hole. The EU will be grand.
Oh, just like my new cabinet !
No worries, eu will survive.
How much did UK take from the EU?
Better to work out the HOLE THE BRITS will have after their exit!
Why is a budget shortfall of 75 bil over 7 years 'huge'? That's 10 bil a year and barely 0.06% of GDP? Peanuts, isn't it?
Wait, you mean it isn't the UK which needs the EU, but the EU which needs the UK? WELL I NEVER. Oh wait, yes, I did know. Nice to see the guardian finally coming to terms with truth, even if not completely yet.

They should start cutting expenses, for example overpaid salaries and privileges in officials.
And not being reported on much by the spiritual home of ‘rats in a sack’, also facing holes of their own creation.
And suddenly it all become clear for everybody.
Any organisation that allows the CAP to exist and a absorb so much of EU budget deserve to be in a mess. A basket case.
Putins investment is paying off
Lol. Conservatives just keep winning.
Bait and switch, the issue is UK having economic conniptions of the Farragian destruction of its traditional markets by adolescent resentment at family. The EU will do just fine without UK bringing the EU into disrepute, save energy for figuring how the UK will remake its markets

Why aren't you mentioning Italy Where is it placed?
They will just downsize some of the more ambitious projects. Which, in my view, is a damn shame. We were working together on a bunch of STEM projects that really could have given Europe an edge on their Chinese and American competition.
There’s little chance that the EU can continue as it has. It’s a sinking ship. That’s still not going to benefit anyone.
