Local outbreaks in meatpacking plants and nursing homes are ‘strong influence’ on reproduction number, says Robert Koch Institute

’s reproduction rate of Covid-19 has spiked from 1.06 to 2.88 in the span of two days following a string of localised outbreaks, prompting concerns over a second wave of the virus. said on Saturday the R number jumped to 1.79 on Saturday and 2.88 on Sunday, far higher than what is needed to contain the outbreak over a longer period of time.of 2.88 means that every 100 people who contract the virus would infect, on average, 288 more people. To contain the virus, a number lower than 1 is needed.

The 2nd wave is about to arrive

LeoVaradkar SimonHarrisTD CMOIreland guess we are ready to avoid this? leovaradkar simonharris cmoireland

So my question is considering the government are monitoring other countries with relaxing lockdown and the effects on the R rate this is a red flag to the UK government. Are they opening up too soon?

Fear!!! Yea work that fear baby! Shaking in fetal position in their homes awaiting a great hope. Bullshit reporting.

This is serious for Germany.

We aint even got over the fuckin first wave yet

But Germany have been amazing at controlling it? It's not over yet

Highly misleading headline. Since rates of infection is very low in most of Germany, the R value relates almost entirely to the rate of spread in a few localised breakouts, not to the situation in the country as a whole.

Cue everyone shitting themselves. It's to do with localised spikes in very small concentrated areas. You probably won't die if you are healthy from Covid-19. Lower the cases more sensitive tge R number is

Perspective

R is meaningless without a number of infections for context. Germany probably has a low number of cases so the R will jump around a lot.

HHepplewhite Piers Morgan will love this

HHepplewhite Come on media, do fuck off. When the cases is low you get wild fluctuations in the R rate, and you know that. Stop sensationalising everything.

HHepplewhite Since BLM protests 2 weeks ago. I kid you not. How about you publish the age groups or doesn't that fit your anti white racist agenda?

1.79 on Saturday and 2.88 on Sunday. Its in the article.
