FAMILIES are worried about dozens of Disney workers who have been "stranded" on an island in the Bahamas as Hurricane Dorian rages.
But concerned relatives have taken to social media to ask why the staff were not evacuated from the island and taken to safety.She tweeted: "Remember that time Disney Cruise left 97 employees on a tiny island in a Category 5 hurricane? I do. They took shelter around 3pm. A spokesman for Disney confirmed to SunOnline: “Some of our Crew remained on the island and their care and safety is our highest priority.
"It's devastating," said Joy Jibrilu, director general of the Bahamas' Ministry of Tourism and Aviation.With its maximum sustained winds of 185 mph and gusts up to 220 mph, Dorian tied the record for the most powerful Atlantic hurricane ever to come ashore.There were indications that the slow-moving Dorian would veer sharply northeastward after passing the Bahamas and track up the U.S. Southeast seaboard.
More than 600 Labor Day flights in the U.S. had been cancelled as of Sunday afternoon, many of them in Florida as Dorian barrelled toward the state's coast.
