Experience and a revitalising fortnight off have been key in seeing Ipswich Town pull away from Leeds United in the race for the Premier League. That’s the view of Daniel Farke , who has talked up the edge Kieran McKenna’s side have found in virtually confirming automatic promotion ahead of Saturday’s finale.
“I know we are not the finished product and I know we are also there with mistakes or not perfect and, yes, crunch-time period sometimes a bit over-excited or a bit nervous, but I'm struggling to criticise my players for ‘they have let us down.’ When I think about Archie Gray, I wouldn't swap this player with any player in this league in this position because he's the future of our club.
“Morsy, I think, 34 , Luongo, so these are lads who were in this position before. They know, when the offensive players are not on it, I have to send a sign. When I need to be there with a tactical foul, I am there with a tactical foul. I think, what is it, Morsy with 14 yellow cards? The former Norwich City boss had initially felt sympathy for McKenna and Ipswich, who were given a fortnight off in April before being asked to play their final three matches in seven days. However, Farke has since seen the return to fitness of George Hirst and Wes Burns.
“All of a sudden, they have all their key players back. Hirst is back, Burns is back and they have them all back for the last week. They also play just against teams who also have such a busy schedule.
