'He'd be right at the front playing piano with a big smile on his face which was lovely.'

A community has paid tribute to a beloved hospital volunteer who would entertain staff and patients in the wards with his piano playing, as he passed away aged 80. Barry Evans was known for his piano playing at Blackpool's hospitals, including in his local Clifton Hospital and Blackpool Victoria.

The full tribute reads: "It is with heavy hearts we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, our dear friend Barry."Barry's journey as a volunteer began over 20 years ago and from the very start, he dedicated himself to spreading joy and lifting spirits with his musical talents. This became a source of comfort and solace for patients, their families and the entire hospital staff on many occasions.

"May his memory continue to inspire us to spread love and joy, just as he did throughout his remarkable life. Thank you, Barry, for the beautiful music. You will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts." Catherine Henshaw, the Team Leader at Blue Skies Hospital Fund told LancsLive: "There was a Facebook post from a pub in Lytham at one point who were wondering how he was getting on. He used to go in and get a lime and soda and played for them and then they wouldn't see him for a while.She added: "He would do all the events at Clifton, like the Coronation parties.
