‘We were so confused,’ Nikki shared, ‘asking ourselves if she was too young and were we doing the right thing.‘We arranged a consultation with a psychologist from our local child mental health centre Reach Out Centre for Kids and they ensured we were doing the right thing.

Social transitioning is very powerful and tends to cement a trans identity leaving a vulnerable child few exit ramps from a medicalized pathway. Puberty is a birthright of all humans. Please allow your male child to develop normally.

If you give a little boy puberty blockers his genitals do not develop. If that kid decides, at 16, that he’s a boy after all and stops, they don’t grow. They remain permanently child sized. What kind of parent makes that kind of decision about their kid. Monstrous.
I don't 'feel' like a woman. I simply am one. Perhaps Ella just feels like someone who likes Frozen and dresses. Perhaps those things are not tied to our sex.
What’s going to happen to this poor kid when he gets to puberty…? We’ve gone backwards so far since I grew up in the 80s as a tomboy play fighting with the boys & playing with my train set. Now a little boy can’t like Frozen, dressing up & female friends without being a girl.

I so wish that this was a thing when I was a kid. I wouldn't have ended up going through 14 years of depression / anxiety because I didn't know what it meant to be trans or even that it was a valid option. I wish Ella the best and a brighter future than I had :)
