That's because of the game's all new progression and monetisation systems that were introduced when the game switched to a free-to-play model earlier this week., players can still level up their battle pass, but with new daily, weekly, and long-term challenges also now available, it seems as though maximising those will help you progress faster than winning matches...
I noticed this, as well. Very confused how you can lose 1st round and get about 25 fame. Yet if you get a gold, 2 silvers, then get eliminated you only get about 50-maybe 60 fame
either way, its painfully slow
I think it's depends on the type of the stage and how much gold medals you get throughout the run.
