Facebook apologises for removing posts that named part of a city deemed to contain an offensive word

Facebook is taking steps to rectify the error that saw posts referring to Plymouth Hoe taken down

Plymouth Hoe is a historic part of the Devon city's seafront but the social media platform wrongly identified it as an offensive term. She said: "One woman on the group had been making hats, and she forgot to say where the collection point was so people asked her and she wrote Plymouth Hoe."And then her daughter contacted me asking why her mum had been banned from commenting on the group."

Wait till they work out what this means

Not S-cunt-horpe?

MarcherLord1 Reminds me of my wife's friend having her email account suspended after trying to arrange a meeting at the Cock Inn in Lavenham.

They've never heard of the Scunthorpe problem then? 😟🤦‍♂️

EE by gum, nowt worse than pseudo intellectuals making their own rules.

How stupid!

WOKE 💩

They'd have a problem with Blue Ball, Pennsylvania

residents of S c * n t h o r p e APPALLED

If they spoke the queens English in America it would be whore, the correct word.

Well, there are plenty there?

Yeh they still allow videos of peoples heads being blown off as it doesn't effect their country rules

Dissapointed that the town of “Fucking” is no more.

Love it

Not far from where I live in Austria...

Shame the BBC doesn't remove their Left Wing biased which is offensive to many as well.

Hoe, hoe, hoe

This explains why Arsenal get poor football coverage.

MarcherLord1 Offa's Dyke fell foul of this....but is now back on.

MarcherLord1 Well that's my gardening posts on Facebook censored then. I'll have to say I'm using a long-handled gardening tool with a thin metal blade instead...

Facebook might not like this one either.

Not much to laugh about these days, but comments on this are 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks Facebook team, best check an atlas next time 👍

StaceyAnne2021

Who the fk could possibly be offended by that ffs 😂😂😂

Oh Facebook you are funny.

There’s a place called Dildo in Newfoundland. I kid you not

Hey, they confused Ho and Hoe. How?

This place stands no chance then

They’ll be banning Penistone next.

Yes, they're being proper 'Scunthorpes' about it.

Does this mean no one in Scunthorpe has Facebook?

Are they taking lessons from BBC News?

Thank god Cockermouth didn't flood this year..

What was supposed to be the offensive word?

Dear Facebook, Does this mean I can start trolling Plymouth hoes with impunity?

Wait until they hear about this place......

Scunthorpe better watch out.

They block that word, but not the f word?

Yet in 10 years have yet to uphold a single complaint of mine for bullying or racially / religiously motivated attacks 🤯

Does Facebook also remove posts on Facebook Marketplace for certain gardening implements?

Is this a joke?

euchhh

Apparently they did the same with Devil’s Dyke, a beauty spot near Brighton

Wonder what they do about Scunthorpe

Luckily the didn't go to Fuck in Austria, Anus in France, Wank in Germany or Effing Ireland. Go to Hell in Norway, I hear its nice.

I will never tend my garden with a plymouth ever again.

What about Low Bell End in North Yorkshire

You can't say hoe on facebook ?

Cue all the constantly offended demanding Plymouth Hoe change it's name!

Are they taking the piss

Wait until they hear about Scunthorpe!
