The two cases - which are currently isolating - are said to be linked to travel in South Africa. But Mr Johnson said tighter border controls would only go so far to quell the variant's spread in Britain, adding "proportionate and targeted measures" were now needed.: "We need to slow down the spread of this variant here in the UK.
The exact rules are expected to be set out in "the next day or so", with Boris adding Brits will go back "to a position where you have to wear them in retail settings or on public transport". While the Government still recommend masks in certain situations, businesses and individuals were largely allowed to decide when they did and didn't cover up.
Announcing the news, Mr Javid told Sky News: "Late last night I was contacted by the UK Health Security Agency.
I always wear the Face Mask in the Shop and Public Transports. I do take it off in the street because I have Asthma
Lol good luck with that then especially on the Northern trains it's a joke!
COVID AS A DISTRACTION - Two new cases and face masks become compulsory is a very disproportionate response. So why do this? It’s a distraction to get the migrant crisis and the absence of border controls out of the media headlines. Media patsies, it’s prorogation all over again!
Compulsory is NOT law, there is a big difference. Just say I'M EXEMPT. It really is as simple as that.
No
I won't be wearing one
Ahhh well, back to online shopping then. Yep that’ll work 😷
Shud be from today why wait
I am living in Germany for 35yrs and we still wear our masks on public transport and shops doctor rooms and nobody is complaining even going to the pub we have to wear it but take it off when you are sitting down but have to wear it when you have to go to the toilet
Not today? And obviously sajidjavid thinks you can only catch the virus on a train or in the shops - never mind pubs, clubs, restaurants football matches etc. This is one highly selective Mutant!
Covid informed the Conservatives that it is taking an extra long weekend.
The reason masks have been left from hospitality and clubs is so covid passes can foisted on them a week before Christmas when they have a 'review'. With the prospect of losing so much money at a critical time of year they will submit. So obvious how this will play out.
Start it straight away if your gonna do it, not let some more people pass it around before implementing it, it was announced yesterday should of been inplace today, brain dead
We’ve never gone to wrong with the saying ‘better safe than sorry’ so what’s all the fuss about just wear an F ing mask in crowded places
No
I haven’t stopped using mine, but then many I know have been gravely ill from Covid and some have died. Deniers are those who haven’t had this experience. They haven’t seen it so it doesn’t exist.
Never worn a mask, never will. 2 words always works for - I'M EXEMPT.
So is this right I go to the shop and wear a mask I get on the bus and wear a mask then go to the pub or a concert or sporting event and put my mask in my pocket absolutely rediculous
Worked a treat 1st/2nd/3rd time around! “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” - Albert Einstein
Why do sensible people have to be told? Seriously not ever feeling safe without one in any retail store / cafe/ leisure area. If you got to be told then you have fuck3d up already.
Nope
Why tuesday why not with immediate effect
Nah
From Tuesday, so the Govt can test public reaction and then they have the chance to U TURN U TURN U TURN ToryCovidCatastrophe
No pleasing some.people. if they said immedietly people would complain to short notice ..... wear a mask if only to stifle the moaning
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why from Tuesday? Why not immediately straight after you announced it?
Not Monday Tuesday
Great news. Brilliant move by sajidjavid
So the variant is taking a couple of days off ?
Why not today?
