Fabio Silva gesture to Benfica fans causes salty tears as Gers star in reminder

The Rangers star turned up on his homecoming against Benfica, setting up his side's second goal and generally proving a thorn in his formative club's side during the Europa League last 16 2-2 draw as the Scottish Premiership leaders teed up a stern Ibrox test for the Portuguese giants next week - exactly the situation Benfica were warned about in the build up.

Whether Silva was being unforgiving or quietly thankful is up for debate. A Porto boy through and through, last week's five star showing Sergio Conceicao's side would no doubt have delighted the on loan Wolves forward. Born in Gondomar, less than 20km from Oporto, Silva started his football journey with his boyhood club before turning pro with them, eventually making a £30million switch to Molineux.
