Storm Gareth to hit with ‘explosive’ force as 90mph winds, lashing rain and snow pummel Britain

A terrifying satellite image shows Storm Gareth sweeping into Britain this morning, bringing deadly winds, floods and snow

She added: “We expect structural damage to buildings, trees blown down, large waves on coasts and possible power cuts. People should be aware of warnings.“But very windy conditions will also affect the rest of the country – with 55-60mph gusts inland in the north and 35-50 mph in the south, peaking on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.”

It's the third storm to hit the UK since the start of the year, bringing with it a "danger to life" warning and heavy bouts of snow.
