'Gunshots' and 'explosions' heard in South East London as Met Police confirm 'ongoing and proactive operation'

COPS launched a dramatic raid in the dead of night over “guns and drugs” last night - as witnesses reported hearing "explosions".

One said: “What in the Bin Laden type operation is going on in the Abbeywood/Plumstead area? Helicopters everywhere.” The operation followed the attempted murder of a 33-year-old man on 29 December and reports of violent offending, including firearms offences, in the local area over the last six months, cops said.
