Nowhere in our oceans is safe from the onslaught of plastic waste. 😔

Sea creatures swim around a part of a submersible lander, illuminated by the light of the submarine DSV Limiting Factor on the floor of the Pacific Ocean’s Mariana Trench

As well as finding a new species of prawn-like crustacean, Victor Vescovo also found a plastic bag and sweet wrappers.Vescovo spent four hours exploring the depths in a specially-built submersible. His feat has broken the record for the deepest dive ever achieved – but it will be the presence of plastic at such a remote part of the planet that will have the lasting impact.

The team believe that the dive has yielded four new species of amphipods, prawn-like crustaceans that live down in the dark depths of the oceans. Some plastic also just washes up on beaches rather than being in the ocean. This is still bad for the environment, but affects the overall amount. As well as this, the density of a certain plastics is heavier than water, so items sink to the sea floor.

What do you expect plastic is everywhere. If it's in the shallows of our ocean of course it's in the deepest parts. We really need to look at how we can clean up our plastic menace out of our oceans.

Men are ordered not to look at women during Ramadan in IranThe country's judiciary said anyone caught looking at women, eating in public during Ramadan or playing music in their car would be arrested. It comes as Iran faces civil unrest amid US sanctions. Meanwhile, they also hate gay people. So ... don't look at men and don't look at women. Who are they allowed to look at? There cannot be much to look at! Who cares. We don't need to send countless western boys to die for Israel again. Stop the propaganda.
