People on here & the gov haven’t got a clue its not binary one or the other the government can create plants with reduced thc to make them safer & legal make some money & give people the freedom to make their own decision, this persistent micromanaging of peoples lives isn’t good

If they did life would be so much easier, more dope heads means less resistance to my take over! Muhahaha dissolve your brains on booze and dope, become my minions! 😈

Alcohol first

It should be class A

Rest of the world is legalising cannabis apart from backwards Britain

Hahah, amazing idea, now we can overcrowd the prisons even more. They decriminalised it about 15 years back! Legalise it, Control it, Tax it. Id be more concerned about the rape coppers if I were theM.

And yet alcohol is still freely available in every supermarket? Even with the amount of actual damage it does? Make it make sense 🤷‍♀️

Leave things as they are. People who feel a need to self medicate will find a way. No one wants a return to glue and solvent sniffing. Criminalising it will just send young people to the same dealers that deal cocaine and heroin and class A dealers are evil criminals.

The experts......

Experts!

Just make it class a and be done with it. It's really damaging. They pretend it does no harm but it does. I know 2 people with lung cancer who smoked weed copiously. One is dead the other is my mother. Weed ruins lives.

It's even legal in many parts of America now, Cannabis lounges are opening in Vegas, Think of all the taxes coming in..We should be doing the same.

If you legalise it and let it be produced in a fair way. It could stop crime like modern day slavery.

Probation has never worked ! Ever ! Legalise and tax it ! It’s not hard ! Yes it has its issues but so does alcohol!

“Experts” so out of touch with reality. Legalise it, stop the black market, raise lots of money in taxes would be my solution.

These so-called experts are probably regular users of cannabis.

Huge step back as some of the most harmful drugs are made by pharmaceuticals. This guy needs to give his head a wobble.

absolutely ridiculous proposal. legalise, regulate, tax and educate.

Just let’s us get stoned and be happy ffs. You only live once.

Just make it legal. There is worse crimes out there to deal with.

The alcohol and tobacco lobbyists just bunged Rishi another few million then. While the rest of the world wakes up & realises that cannabis is less harmful than alcohol the UK decides, once again, to appeal to an ageing out of touch electorate.

Experts in what? I think that I might be highly qualified in this field.

Fucking clown country man. Legalise it, tax it.

The experts must be the gangsters, they really don’t want to loose their easy great income!

Whilst drinking a nice Chablis and toking on a big fat cigar the expert decided a plant is a drug but a tobacco plant is merely a cigarette...

ClarkeMicah

Makes me laugh out gov exports tens of tonnes every year for medical use in Canada and the us be we can’t smoke it it’s clear from what has happened in America legalisation is the best way take it out the hands of criminals who spray and use harmful chemicals to grow it

9 out of 10 toilets in parliament are testing positive for cocaine

wait for the usual Dope Smokers vs Drinkers mob to surface this morning

Tories, out of touch on this as they are on many things. This is the kind of draconian policy they'd come up with in the run up to an election to appease the old Tory faithful. Ps, its not as harmful as class A drugs, which are rife in parliament (cokeheads)

While I currently do not partake and I hope I do not partake anytime in the future I do not think we should be letting national bodies dictate what and what we do not put in our bodies.

Legalise it, use the tax revenue raised to help fund the NHS

Legalise it, tax it, see children starve because useless parent rather spend money on it....... Seen it all before. If you need that stuff to cope with life, you got issues.....

Imagine the backlog in the CJ system.

BBC News, as well as your decades old admirable worry about 'Re-Classifying Cannabis' - do you also have cameras outside BBC party chairman Sharp's house - asking Sharp about his £800,000 loan to Boris Johnson?

Drug referral schemes been on for a decade. Appear to have had little effect so perhaps it is time to try something else like making it Class A. People miss the point that cannabis is much stronger now a days and the issue of people progressing onto other drugs is still exists.

People already smoke it in the streets, gardens, walking their dogs… I’m not against those who smoke it but I hate the smell and don’t think everyone should have to get a face full of it which would be all the time if it was legal

Other countries approach cannabis so differently. The only way is to legalise it and if so pay taxes. Making cannabis class A drug will cost millions, there aren't enough police to enforce a change.

Tom make it class A? Ruins lives, makes people insufferable pricks, causes vast medical and psychological damage. Make penalties for use and growth heavier IMO. And no, junkie users, I don’t need your replies.

Most of the western world are de criminalising it whilst some in this back wards country want it a class A. 😂

“As harmful as crack or heroin” ehhhh nah…?

These supposed experts are they Pharmacists or people that have researched it's medical uses. There needs to be a better reaction to this than condemnation.

If the drugs in pharmacy are so much better at healing then why so most need to be on repeat prescription?

Yes lets class a harmless plant that's never killed anyone as class A but millions of people dying from alcohol is fine, This country is so backwards 😂

Cannabis leads to serious mental health problems in some people, needs to remain illegal, I work in the NHS and I know

Why is this plant still illegal?

It does need to be re-classified. It needs to be fully legalised, not made a Class A drug ffs. Legalise it, tax it.

Experts in what? No one dieing smoking cannabis but alcohol has deaths violence and police dealing with drunks instead of more serious crimes. Time for society to stand up and get the clowns out!

Hmm let's compare alcohol related deaths to cannabis related deaths shall we. Just legalise the damn thing and claim your dirty taxes on it.

Cannabis stinks!
