With temperatures hitting up to 26C in Scotland this weekend, many will be digging out their fans to help cool at night but an expert has warned this may not be such a good idea.

Scots can be hard to please when it comes to the weather, rain or shine, there is often some sort of complaint with the temperatures.

Experts over at Sleep Advisor have issued a warning that fans can trigger allergic reactions to pollen and dust, particularly if your appliance has been kept away in a cupboard all winter and hasn't been cleaned properly. The experts said: "Breathing in dry air can cause unwanted side effects such as asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, nosebleeds, and dehydration.
