Defence secretary Ben Wallace has hit back at an ex-British soldier who claims he has been ‘cut off’ in Kabul.
He claimed on Good Morning Britain an emergency Ministry of Defence phone line he was using for assistance has gone dead and says he has been ‘literally left on my own in enemy-held territory’. While Mr Farthing is eligible for immediate evacuation, his staff are not among those deemed in critical danger if they remain in Afghanistan.supports HTML5 video
Mr Wallace hit back at the ex-soldier on Sky News this morning, telling the broadcaster he would not ‘prioritise pets over people’. Mr Farthing appeared on Sky shortly after and responded to the defence secretary, saying: ‘Mr Wallace, I never asked you to prioritise pets over people. At no point, have I ever said that whatsoever.’

I can't imagine any life threatening situation where pets life would be above a human one, I know their owners would put their pets first but not a government or rescuing organisation.
No staff allowed. No animals either as we have enough pets here already.
We have paid for that flight via our own donations. This flight has nothing to do with taxpayer money or govt. We just need a landing pass!! Let them get on that flight!!

He doesn’t want to put pets over people. People wouldn’t be in the cargo hold whether the animals were there or not, and it’s a private plane that could bring even more people to safety. This government will fly back a car.. and yet not help him to do this? It’s awful.
