It says it's delivering more than 3 million parcels daily and working to get items to people before Christmas. It said the delivery sector was experiencing higher than normal demand "driven in part by the Royal Mail strikes". Customers have complained that Evri's online help service is no use, and that getting hold of staff by phone or e-mail is extremely difficult.The company adds that its local teams "are working hard to ensure that any delayed parcels will arrive before Christmas".BBC Newsbeat approached some major companies to ask what was going on with deliveries.

Paid for next day delivery and paid more cover the value of parcel contents. I posted on 29th November. On 1st December I got an update to say ‘your parcel has been delayed’. No change since. I can’t get through to anyone on the phone by using the tracking number.
I have posted three items through Evri.The next day delivery posted on the 24th Nov only arrived on 6th December after being on the phone for almost 2 hours. Holly - the digital assisitant -absolutely no use. The other 2 are yet to arrive . Last tracking 30th Nov. What next?
Yeah Evri are just scum. I have contacted the shop for a refund on my undelivered order and I wont be ordering anything else unless they change couriers. Why would retailers damage their reputation by using dodgy couriers! Avoid at all costs!
We used to have a good driver who delivered to my work but since he left its been downhill. Tried to deliver a parcel to my work twice in the afternoon and said noone was home. Funny that our work is open 7am until 9pm 🙄 clearly they never even tried....
My Evri driver now visits my street twice a day and gets 2 small breaks (in his vehicle). He is great but grossly underpaid 😡
They should be cancelled!!! Businesses should stop partnering with them period. Any shop using Evri I won’t shop with them
Our house only has name, not number, and is set back from road so many deliveries from all couriers are awkward. Evri deliveries by van, ie usually an out of town driver, often fail first try: local agent v reliable.
Yep, marksandspencer parcel been “delayed” with Evri since 14/11 with no further updates & no means of contact.

Blaming Royal Mail strikes simply doesn't cut it. Evri's issues have been apparent since long before the first strike took place.
I've never had a problem with Evri - they've always been very efficient. Parcelforce, on the other hand, are dire.

It depends on the courier. Our local Evri man is friendly and reliable and I've never had any problems, but others aren't so good.
Courier goes round the back of the house and hides parcels behind our back fence and leaves a ‘you were out’ message. Every time I have been in. He doesn’t knock. New name, same sh*t ‘Hermes’ service. Complaints ignored. Stopped buying from Next due to Evri
Lost items, unable to deliver to address, are not unusual events. Altho I have to say that while they are bad, theyre not as bad as YOKEL who are demonstrably the worst
True, we received a marksandspencer parcel through Avri yesterday the parcel was cut open and taped, many items were missing, we have complained to them.

Over the last 15 years, we’ve had three successive Hermes/Evri drivers who have each stayed for many years. They have all been reliable. I know it’s not all down to the individual driver, but it certainly helps.

I paid for next day delivery on Nov 27th, then it said it was delayed up until Dec 7th. At midnight Dec 8th I recieve an email saying it was delivered on Nov 29th. Obviously it wasn't.
They have a vital life safety system that I sent to a customer, not delivered, nobody answers, just an absolutely abhorrent organisation
Evri received item 25/11. Arrived at depot on 26/11. 2 hours later it was 'delayed' for unknown reason. 2/12 11:26 - out for delivery (due between 11am and 3pm). At 12:05, - not able to deliver it today, try again next working day. 8/12 (3 working days later!) - No update.
The only courier I would recommend is UPS
Evri delivered a electronic Tablet to unrequested 'safe place', not my nominated neighbour. They broke the hinges of my locked Keter garden storage container (missing its key), by forcibly bending the plastic lid. The tablet fell to the bottom, and it took 4hrs to retrieve it
I have always found Evri (Hermes) amongst the best performing delivery service and far more reliable than DPD or Royal Mail.
My lad works for a haulage firm that has a contract with EVRI They do multiple runs with 40foot Artics from Evri Depots to Auction Houses with parcels that are not delivered for all sorts if reasons The auction houses spend hours/days removing address labels before selling them!
to be honest, I've never had a problem with Evri. They can't all be hopeless, then.
They've actually been alright for me, had same delivery guy for a while now, my daughter however, who lives in a different area,has had nothing but problems.
If a company uses Evri I will not deal with them. I've had Parcels sitting in storage for 2 or 3 days before they continue on their journey, they are certainly unreliable. Evri parcel late, Evri parcel damaged, Evri parcel lost.
Repeat failures to deliver. Even after sending me 'item delivered' texts and emails.
Awful. They lost a delivery after telling us it needed a special courier because of its large size (it wasn’t). Delivered 2 days after we cancelled purchase. Company said keep it free (£220 worth).
Hermes - Evri. Rebranding only works if you actually change things up. If you don't, it fails evri time.

Had problems with them at my old place but my current area has had the same dude for about a year & he is great.
Maybe replace “lost” with “nicked” and you’d probably be nearer the truth.
Sold a dolls house on eBay. It never arrived and is now deemed lost. Insured, but no idea whether we will get the postage cost back so will probably be out of pocket once the buyer has been refunded. It was a huge box - not easy to lose! So upset.
MyKomment Parcel due tomorrow they seem to of lost between picking it up on Sat from the supplier and their own warehouse - it’s trainers so wonder if they have been nicked….
Ditto with Pilltime! No reason why prescriptions were not delivered. Just lame excuses. Shameful
We think Evri are great, stuff ordered 10 am delivered next day 18.00. Great job.
Silence from Customer services is not unique to evri
Leaving a small parcel, which would easily fit through my letterbox, w/ +£80 worth of goods in, outside my front door in a busy block of flats was not the best delivery I've had. Even had the audacity to send a photo
By contrast I had received some parcels by the old Hermes company just fine.
They have never managed a delivery to my address which everyone else can. I would never use them. Might as well burn money than order something that uses this company. The biggest thing the lost was a desk I ordered.
They delivered my parcel to the wrong house (and sent a photo to prove it). Driver not remotely fussed.
Not just them DPD are at it too 😡

This has been going on for at least 12 months, it’s nothing to do with Royal Mail strikes or the time of year. They’re a dire company who are only used cos they’re cheaper than the others. Half of their staff are on the take.
I do not buy from retailers who use EVRI/Hermes as their courier. It is simply not worth the grief or time spent in chasing parcels.
