Sick and twisted Field was pronounced dead aged 87 at HMP Full Sutton, in Yorkshire, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.
Field was jailed for life in 2001 for the rape and murder of 14-year-old Surrey schoolboy Roy Tutill.During his trial Field, then 65, pleaded guilty to murder but not sexual assault before being caged for life. Both boys had told their parents they were going to visit one of Patrick's brothers but were never seen or heard from again.
