NBC has announced that they are developing a follow-up series to the US version of hit sitcom The Office, with the new show set to stream on Peacock in the US. It was announced on Wednesday 8 May that Peacock had placed a formal series order for the untitled series, which is set in the same universe as NBC's former Emmy-winning Steve Carell comedy.
Who's set to star in the The Office spin-off? Domhnall Gleeson, who starred in About Time and Ex-Machina as well as this year's romantic TV drama Alice & Jack, is teaming up with Sabrina Impacciatore, who wowed audiences in the second season of The White Lotus. They're headlining an exciting ensemble cast, although the specifics of their characters are hush-hush for now.
"It's been more than 10 years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock," she said. "In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper.
Who is making The Office spin-off? The Office's very own Greg Daniels is teaming up with Nathan for You's Michael Koman to co-create the new comedy. The executive production team includes Greg and Michael, plus Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant from the original UK version of the series and Howard Klein and Ben Silverman, who worked on the US sitcom.
