Everything we know about Marelle Sturrock's death as body found in reservoir

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 35-year-old woman who was found inside her Govan flat on Tuesday, April 25.

The body of a 36-year-old man - believed to be Yates - was discovered in Mugdock Reservoir on Thursday evening . Issuing a further update during a press conference on Thursday, April 27, police said a murder investigation is now underway. Police Scotland have this evening confirmed the body of a man has been discovered. Though he is yet to be formally identified, they believe it to be that of Yates.

“Officers attended her home address shortly after 8.40am on Tuesday, 25 April and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Marelle was 29 weeks pregnant and I can confirm that sadly her unborn baby did not survive. “The last confirmed sighting of David was on Sunday evening shortly after 8pm. His subsequent movements are unknown after his vehicle was left at Mugdock Country Park but there is nothing to suggest he has left the area. We will keep an open mind on this as we continue to search the area.

Who was Marelle Sturrock? Marelle was from Wick, but moved to Glasgow when she was 17 to pursue a career in the performing arts. She later became a primary school teacher after completing her post-graduate diploma in education.
