That was, of course, until Everybody's Talking About Jamie came waltzing onto the stage at the Liverpool Empire, last night, Monday, April, 22.
The show, just shy of three hours including the interval, is what it says it is on the tin - funny, fabulous, feel good and above all, camp. It reminds us, especially as queer people, in this day and age to stop waiting for permission to be who we are or who we want to be. Everybody might be talking about Jamie, but this didn’t stop the rest of the cast from putting their best foot forward and giving it everything they had.
The fast-paced and multi-functional stage came to a halt to allow the audience to soak in all of the poignancy Rebecca was delivering. Her soaring vocals were pushed over the edge by a beautiful contemporary dance which left the room in silence.
