Rafael Benitez leaves Everton with just two Premier League wins since September 13 EFC

Rafael Benitez has been sacked as Everton manager after their defeat to Norwich, with the Toffees 15th in the Premier League.

The appointment of the former Liverpool boss last summer wasn’t greeted too kindly by supporters, with many fans disappointed by the decision to hire the man who won the Champions League with their fierce rivals in 2005.His time at Goodison Park had got off to a favourable start with three wins in his first four Premier League games. It quickly went downhill though with just two wins since, the last of those victories on September 13.

Norwich City were one of those two triumphs but it is the Canaries who have ended his career at Everton with a 2-1 victory at Carrow Road. At the match, like in several before, supporters held up banner demanding the Spaniard be removed from his position, while there was also a pitch invader who attempted to reach Benitez.

Everton’s form has been so woeful, owner Farhad Moshiri had to quash demand for Benitez’s sacking in early December.A pitch invader made a fool of himself at Carrow Road as he tried to give Benitez a piece of his mind: “‘Football is about crisis one day and glory the following day. Rafa is a good manager and underperformance is largely due to the injuries.“’Rafa needs time to have his mark on the squad. He will be supported to add depth to the squad. Managers need time.

Rooney will be in charge of his beloved Everton next.

Bye! You lowered the standards of Everton Mr Rafael. 14th in the PL ....what a JOKE!

Should have gone sooner. Most managers would have at least 4 weeks ago with his record.
