Everton line-ups vs Brighton as Sean Dyche faces one major selection dilemma

Last week, ahead of West Ham, I thought James Garner should have started at right back. Worried at the way Luis Diaz had run at Ashley Young at Anfield, I thought Garner would be the best temporary fix with Idrissa Gueye available to cover him in the middle. But Patterson was part of that massive win last week plus, at the London Stadium and then against Burnley in the Carabao Cup, Garner continued to build on a blossoming partnership with Amadou Onana in midfield that deserves to be maintained.

My team : Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Onana, Garner; Harrison, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-LewinSurely Sean Dyche, the manager who – quite rightly – only made a couple of changes for Everton’s midweek Carabao Cup tie, has just the one selection dilemma for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Further forward, Arnaut Danjuma failed to take his chance playing off Dominic Calvert-Lewin so Abdoulaye Doucoure, fresh from signing his new contract and so integral to Everton’s shape when linking up the midfield with attack, returns to the starting line-up.
