A new report claims the European Commission is gearing up to send a statement of objections to Microsoft over the Activision Blizzard deal.

According to Reuters, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard will face another challenge, this time from the European Commission. Sources have told the website that the EU antitrust regulator is preparing a statement of objections over the deal that will be sent to Microsoft in the coming weeks.Reuters

sources say Microsoft was expected to offer remedies to the European Commission in an attempt to avoid a"statement of charge" to shorten the process, but it's said the regulator is not open to remedies without first sending out its charge sheet. However, it is claimed there are"ongoing informal discussions" over concessions.

In a statement given to Reuters, Microsoft said:"We're continuing to work with the European Commission to address any marketplace concerns. Our goal is to bring more games to more people, and this deal will further that goal." The European Commission declined to comment.Last month, the US Federal Trade Commission announced a formal objection to the deal and filed to block the acquisition.
