Bloc may receive only half of purchased 100m doses in first quarter of the year

The EU has threatened to block exports of coronavirus vaccines to countries outside the bloc such as Britain, after AstraZeneca was accused of failing to give a satisfactory explanation for a huge shortfall of promised doses to member states.

If the UK could actually manufacture the 10s of millions of Az doses that it planned to, it wouldn't be such an issue. Oddly, very quiet about UK production. Of course, the Tories always thought an economy built on services with no manufacturing was great! 👍 🤡

What about the US? Is there an equal export of the Moderna and Pfizer Between the US and EU? Vaccines shouldn’t be a tit for tat between countries. They need to be spread out as much as possible as fast as possible. A virus doesn’t care about the borders.

Disgraceful. They sound like enemies, not old friends.

Why have you disabled the comments section on this article? Does it upset your values regarding your “benevolent” EU? Look at the childish, spiteful, incompetence of them. They couldn’t even approve the Astra vaccine. So much for their boasts that they had secured supply.

The EU isn’t the biggest market. It lost that status when the U.K. left it.

Maybe we should put that on the side of a bus?

This has been confusing me. Why would a company withhold goods paid for in advance with no explanation. Is there a problem with the production of the Oxford vaccine? Or is something else going on behind the scenes?

headline is disappointing. There is no statement from the EU saying it will stop exports. It also infers Pfizer have not been holding doses that have been paid for but sending them out. There is a call for transparent exports and honouring contracts mrjamesob mikegalsworthy

Well, this sounds like some serious trouble in the making.

Petty EU, now having to beg Britain for help once again.

Apparently, Germany are considering the use of the Russian vaccine because things are so bad:

We produce 150,000 doses a day why have we not got more production capacity opening?

Send one of the Tridents to get it if they do.

Beaking_News I see you've dropped the 'Oxford' lol

hocwatch What happens if Pfizer, AZ, Moderna, and J&J simply decide to focus on other markets. It's not like there isn't demand out there

Do I sense a trade war building up between EU and UK? Sad times, I hope not! 😞

There's a nice message for any business thinking of setting up in an EU infected country.
