Manchester United have regressed this season and have often looked dysfunctional, leading to accusations they are poorly coached and Ten Hag's tactics aren't working.
"This year, we wanted to make the next step. We bought in a goalkeeper who can play out from the back, a dynamic midfielder in Mason Mount - who has been injured all season - and a goalscorer in Hojlund who is young and needed the time. "Anyone with even a little bit of knowledge about football, they will know it will have a huge impact. Then Casemiro was injured for a long period. We had so many issues in the team that you can't always play the way you want to play. But the fans want to see a successful team."
"That's what we always aim for. We have made improvements. We score more goals after the winter break and also we were more consistent. The injury crisis at Carrington this season has been unrelenting and it's difficult not to sympathise with Ten Hag on that front, to an extent, but even with multiple first-team players unavailable, there should still be a clear, recognisable style of play and identity seen each week.
Spurs had 64 per cent possession, they recorded 16 shots and the only thing missing from their confident second-half performance was a winning goal for the victory.
