Business Secretary Grant Shapps said energy firms need to refocus their efforts on customers who had prepayment meters forcibly installed

Energy companies have until Tuesday to decide what action they will take for customers who may have had prepayment meters wrongfully installed.

According to a leaked document, magistrates were told that it was "irrational" to refuse such warrants and that rules requiring them to question the applications were "disproportionate".

Further reviews would be carried out to "cross examine what we have had reported to us with direct reports from customers and wider stakeholders, and potentially those involved in delivery of services."

Energy firms have more power than the government.

Bit like the bbc knocking on your door.....

If properties were entered illegally, then it's a criminal offence. If required due process was not followed, then the energy companies should refund those customers in full, compensate for the distress, and undo the change to a pre-payment meter. Nothing less is just, nor right.

they shouldn't be given no deadlines they should be brought before the beak for sentencing!!

So the Energy companies Bribed the Magistrates courts With Payment fees So how long as the royal family courts ,be Accepting payments To wave Criminal energy companies ceo and mangers to Bribe Magistrates and bailiff They did not care as long as they Receive payment🤬🤬

Energy firms told to stop force-fitting prepayment metersBritish Gas has been heavily criticised for practices around installing prepayment meters. And also legislation to ensure that they are removed…. Landlords and new homeowners should not be forced to use prepayment metres due to the choices of those before… it’s near impossible to get an engineer to put them back on normal metres…. Your headline is WRONG. They have been “asked” not TOLD. That looks like a smart meter not a prepayment meter to me.

Energy bills: Magistrate quits over force-fitting meter warrantsRobin Cantrill-Fenwick says courts are 'rubber stamping' warrants that allow energy firms into homes. Thought we were a democracy, yet being forced to install certain meters Funny because prepayment meters have been rubber-stamped for being installed in low income council homes for decades 'When I started, the energy companies would come to court and we would be able to question the applicant. 'We could establish whether there might be young children in the premises or people who were clinically vulnerable. We could, and would sometimes, decline a warrant.'
