An "energetic and enthusiastic" teacher at a Liverpool school has been handed one of teaching's most prestigious awards.
On winning the Pearson National Teaching Awards Ana told the ECHO: "I'm humbled and grateful to receive the Silver Secondary Teacher of the Year award. It's a testament to the incredible support and inspiration I’ve received from my KLAL colleagues since I joined the school in September. Ana created such enthusiasm for languages that increasingly pupils choose to learn after school, sessions held on Saturdays and injected a level of fun by building lessons around experiences reflecting the culture of the languages. She's arranged a trip for 30 Spanish language students to Barcelona, many have never been away, and made the trip affordable to all who wanted to go.
Michael Morpurgo, author, former Children’s Laureate and President of the Teaching Awards Trust, added: “The work and devotion of all of those who play a role in educating young people is phenomenal. Not only do they play a vital role in shaping minds inside the classroom, often they continue to encourage, support, motivate and inspire beyond.
Year 7 student Mohammed Nammora said: "I really enjoy learning Spanish because I think it will help me in the future. Miss Sanchez makes lessons fun and helps you if needed in lessons, during breaks or lunch.
