Absolutely stupid idea.
Why now. Are there a lot of politicians due before magistrates in near future?
BBCPolitics eternal life is available thru Jesus not mandatory darwin available
BBCPolitics Okay...but ....the legal system in the UK is being shredded before our very eyes...police numbers dwindling..... magistrates courts closing.....the list goes on. Probation services privatised.. All this seems to have gone relatively under the radar in some quarters....
But not victims, they won’t welcome it.
This is a fecking joke, crime which leaves traumatised victims should result in being caged, only feed them rice & beans, keep locked up in the actual cell. It IS meant to be a DETERRENT & PUNISHMENT isn't it FFS!! Commit a crime & you lose your so called human rights!!
it's the tory party so don't hold your breath-there not known for doing the right thing just doing the wrong one every time we give them the keys to the kingdom
BBCPolitics Probation service already stretched and drug rehabilitation services struggling to cope. What is going to happen with the increased numbers of CRIMINALS pushed on to these services?
More money and hugs at the problem. That will make the thugs play nice. Could we not also sort some more trans ops to ease numbers in male prisons? Thanks leftists.
Double the sentence length... Fixed
BBCPolitics Not the general public
Absolute madness. What planet are these politicians on?
BBCPolitics Copying the snp policy
BBCPolitics More nanny state toffs.
BBCPolitics Give petty criminals lots of community service. Kerp them out of prison but don't let them get awsy with their sinful ways.
Going to need more staff to look after them if they don't go to prison.Sort out the prisons,it is quite easy.
grumpyfred3 The green light for crime.
Great! I really can’t wait to see the high speed driving offenders back on the road the same day 🚙💨💨
Great news NOT. The police are at breaking point and this will only encourage offending further. Longer proper sentences should be given in the first instance. When these people are away, it's the only break some community's get from them. It's just about money and wrong
Silly idea really
Most offenders have a better life for six months, a clean bed regular food with choices,TV, games room regular visits to pass on drugs etc etc. Strip it all out and see how many return
Still nothing from SLO police and Ministry of Law affaires towards insolvency practicioners's abuses and against clear evidenced abuses of judicial authorities of Slovenia!
Easy answer give 'em twelve months
How about lynching up the lifers that cost us thousands a month to maintain comfy lifestyle and lock up those that break the law, irrespective of how long they get?!?!? Cheaper in the long run.
GiletsJaunes
BBCPolitics What about the victims
BBCPolitics Make sentencing longer.
BBCPolitics Biased prisoner charities and private probation companies - neither has the interest of victims or society. The 1st just has the prisoners interests at heart. The second just sees an opportunity to do less work and make more profit. Tories failing society time & time again
I don't understand why so many people are raging about this. Re-offending rates post prison sentences are far higher than re-offending rates post community sentences. In other words, prison sentences do not deter further offending, community sentences do!
Probation union be complaining not enough staff very Shortly
It's fine just mug the robbers with a baseball bat you won't get sent to prison because the sentence will be under 6 months, bring on the vigilantes
Don't abolish it just have prisons that only hold those serving shorter sentences.
Tell that to the pensioners who get mugged and robbed .
Or, could build more prisons & increase sentences. This could be more of a deterrent.
Burglary & shoplifting might not be as severe as sexual/violent offences but burglars & shoplifters still leave victims. This is great news for the people who are burgled & are left feeling unsafe in their own homes 🙄
While law abiding citizens weep at the proposal.
Is this a joke? We’re now letting off criminals off 😧
Ffs 🤣🤣
Why not bring in 'weekend jail' sentences like America?
House/car burglary is as good as legalised now anyway - another nail in this once-great country’s coffin...
Transport them to Australia.
Add the probation cost to the sentence as a fee.
So do all the criminals.
They said when people get jail for 6 months or less they risk loseing Their homes jobs etc, DON'T commit the crime then
Not the general public, who have to put up with this trash walking the streets.
Shops and people who have been burgled ,robbed don’t count now.
The probation staff union agree only because it means job security and more perks.
Make the sentences longer
Happy days for the criminals
take this in fully , they rob your shed , the police do not attend , now if you catch them robbing your shed , the police let them go as the courts are a waste of paper work , what next ? your daughter needs 3 witnesses to get them to prosecute rape
This is insane. What do you think will happen to the crime rate when people realise there is no deterrent to stop people offending ?
Everyone else just thinks once again the Tories are showing they are weak and soft on crime. 🤔
EFFSouthAfrica please take note. Please copy and paste this potential manifesto in yours
Well done, prison is no longer, even if it was, a detterent, reap what you sow.
I’m sure the criminals do too.
Whereas businesses who are crippled by shoplifters will go bust.
I hope that’s not for the serious criminals.
