Defeats for Dan Evans and Katie Boulter mean they will soon join Raducanu in preparing for the grass

It meant there were only two British women in the French Open main draw, the second of whom was eliminated when Katie Boulter was beaten by Paula Badosa to wipe the Brits out after Dan Evans had earlier lost to Holger Rune.“I feel good. I’m playing well and I’m training really hard, I’m doing a lot of good things and I know it’s going to happen,” she told

Raducanu has only played at Wimbledon once since her breakthrough tournament where she reached the fourth round, a performance that foreshadowed her remarkable run to the US Open title two months later. Boulter and Evans had been the last representatives in the women’s and men’s draws respectively, but only by virtue of the draw handing them late assignments on Tuesday – which were then further delayed by the rain.

But, in a game of millimetres, her powerful forehand that would have been a winner leaked just wide and Badosa battled back to seal victory in two hours and 18 minutes.Evans meanwhile, unseeded after a three-month run without a tour-level win, was left in the lap of the draw gods and was handed a brutal opener against No 13 Holger Rune.
