Charnley Road, to the south of the Winter Gardens, was closed off by police as officers, paramedics and fire fighters took over the road shortly after 6pm on Wednesday .
Four fire engines in total arrived at the scene, with a particular focus on the Alviston Hotel with fire service personnel seen entering the building. Two individuals were treated by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.By around 9pm on Wednesday, the situation was seemingly under control with the fire service response scaled back. LancsLive understands that crews that remained at the scene were carrying out final checks before leaving themselves.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson on Wednesday evening said: "At 18:23 on August 3, four fire engines from Blackpool, Bispham, and St Annes attended a commercial building fire on Charnley Road, Blackpool. Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, and a positive pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.
