East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy admits Kilby’s play-off pain has devastated him but says he will stay on next season to lead the team for another promotion push from the Lowland League .
However, more opportunities were passed up – in particular a 116th minute sitter from Joao Balde six-yards out – and Stranraer struck in the 117th minute through Craig Ross and in stoppage time via ex-EK man Aiden Gilmartin to break Kilby hearts. “I haven’t watched the game back and I probably won’t, to be honest, but I remember Joao’s chance live. He had two really good chances and missed them both unfortunately. He has been unbelievable for us all season so it is just a case that sometimes things don’t go for you.”
“It doesn’t matter to me if I am managing in League Two, the West of Scotland League or back in the amateurs, it doesn’t make a difference to my life. I think the club has made massive strides and it is in a far better place than when we came in. The statement read: “East Kilbride FC are delighted to confirm that our coaching staff will be in charge for the 2024/25 campaign. Together, everyone is driven to achieving more success for the club – that ambition continues at this Sunday’s South Challenge Cup Final.”
